AI School Leadership Minute: Fix ChatGPT Table Formatting in Docs
As you probably know, when you make a table with ChatGPT and paste it into Google Docs, the formatting gets messed up.

There is an easy fix.

Here is how you fix it:

1. Create a table in ChatGPT. Here is a prompt to use if you want to try it out:
   “Build a table to track parent communications by date, student, reason, and action taken. Fill it in with mock data."

2. Copy it using the copy button in the bottom left corner of the ChatGPT response:

   

3. Paste it into a Google Doc. Pro tip: In Chrome, type “doc.new” in the address bar and hit Enter to open a new Google Doc instantly.

4. Highlight the whole table:

   

5. Click on the “Border Width” setting:

   

6. Give the table a border width by clicking on “1 pt":

   

7. Your table will now be fixed:

   

Problem: When you paste a table from ChatGPT into a document, the border width is set to zero.

Solution: The steps above walk through giving your table a border width.
