AI School Leadership Minute: Anonymizing Student Data and Identifying Students for Support
With the steps below, use ChatGPT to identify students needing specialized support. If you prefer a video tutorial, you can watch it here.
Have a sheet with student assessment data. Use this mock data for practice. Make a copy of it so you can edit it. File → Make a Copy.
Do not send students’ personally identifiable information to ChatGPT. Anonymize the data following these steps.
Open ChatGPT. Click the paperclip icon on the prompt bar in ChatGPT. Then, choose the sheet with the anonymized data.
Type a prompt like this into the prompt bar (Or copy and paste this one):
“Analyze the attached assessment data to identify students who may be candidates for specialized support. Consider factors such as scores below grade-level expectations, lack of progress over multiple assessments, and significant discrepancies between subject areas. Provide a list of potential specialized support candidates along with supporting data and recommend appropriate interventions. Use the Anonymized IDs to reference students.”Use your secure mapping file to match the anonymized IDs from ChatGPT’s analysis with the corresponding student names.
