AI School Leadership Minute: Make Students Aware of AI Danger
1 in 3 teens say AI chats feel as satisfying as real-life friendships (source). This student-facing video explains the mental health risks of AI’s overly affirming responses. This issue leads to:
- students relying on AI for emotional support,
- AI taking the place of real relationships, and
- just telling students they’re right instead of helping them think better.
The video NOT ONLY points out the issue, but also goes into these clear solutions:
1) Use it as a tool, not as a friend.
2) Look and ask for counter-arguments. Don’t just accept what it says.
3) Test and fact-check AI outputs.
4) Turn down the flattery setting in ChatGPT. Go to: Name/Profile (bottom left) → Personalization → Change “Warm and enthusiastic” to less warmth and less enthusiasm.
Share this at your school to promote responsible AI use.
