AI School Leadership Minute: Make ChatGPT Less Wordy
Problem: ChatGPT's writing tone is wordy. This can make it annoying to use for email communication. It just does not sound like you.
Fix: Give instructions on how the content should be written.
Example↓
Less effective: "Respond to the following email letting Bob know I will read the report on Friday: [email]"
More effective: "Respond to the following email letting Bob know I will read the report on Friday. Use clear and straightforward wording: [email].”
Here are my favorites: Keep the wording clear and straightforward. Use short sentences. No passive language. No excess words. Write in the present voice. Use active sentences. Avoid adverbs. Keep sentences short and simple. Use positive language. No unnecessary words.
Apply this to everything.
Little tricks like this 10x your AI experience. I have learned them through delivering AI training at 100+ schools. Around 2-3 schools receive this per week. Recently, I was in Barnesville, MN. Confidence in using AI in education rose from 2.8 out of 10 before training to 7.3 out of 10 after. Representing a 161% school-wide improvement.
