AI School Leadership Minute: How to make AI sound like you
Most school leaders get AI outputs that don’t sound like them. (They sound like AI.)
The fix: give AI your best past work to mimic. Show it how you actually write and communicate. Then, tell it to mimic your writing style.
How to actually do it:
1. Take something that you have to repetitively write, like a weekly staff update.
2. Go through your past weekly staff updates and paste into a Google Document 5-10 of them that you would call your best work.
3. When it’s time to write your next update, upload that document into ChatGPT or Gemini and use a prompt like this: “Study the attached examples of my weekly staff updates. Match my tone, structure, and writing patterns. Based on that, draft this week’s update using the notes below: [paste your bullet points].”
4. Repeat the same system for anything you write often.
This is something that we covered in our last monthly AI lab for school leaders. You can find the full recording and resources here. (If you have not already registered: I host a free monthly 60-minute AI Lab for school leaders. 583 school leaders have joined the group so far. Take 15 seconds to join for free here.)
