AI School Leadership Minute: Don’t Stop at One Prompt
Stopping at one prompt is the most common mistake people make when using ChatGPT. If you learn how to create effective follow-up prompts, you’ll find ChatGPT far more useful.

There are two approaches you can use (approach 2 is my preferred method):

Approach 1:
You: "Draft a policy on staff attendance and punctuality.”
ChatGPT provides the policy.
You: "Make it more concise and include a section on procedures for reporting absences."
ChatGPT revises the policy accordingly.
Ask for as many revisions as you want.

Approach 2 (my preferred method):
You: "Draft a policy on staff attendance and punctuality.”
ChatGPT provides the policy.
You: “Ask me questions to improve your understanding of the task. I will answer them. After I answer, make the necessary changes based on your new understanding."
ChatGPT creates a list of questions.
You: Answer the questions.
ChatGPT revises the policy accordingly.

I highly recommend trying approach two. You will find it highly effective. ChatGPT will ask for the context your initial prompt lacked.

Apply this to save time over winter break. Spend more time relaxing :)
